Passage is an experimental photographic project on transience and the ephemeral. This work has emerged organically from collective experiences of rapid change, and the anxiety this generates. These fragile, untethered forms speak of our increasing transition into disembodied, virtual habitats. While the use of seriality and repetition refer to the machine, and a desire to compete with its perfection. These photographs are all produced through long exposures of backlit screens of cellphones and laptops, combined with landscape photographs that Julia has found online. Julia tends to exploring the relationship between photography, time and ephemeral by using intangible and illusory images. Creating cubes that constantly shift backward and forward while viewers looking at them. The floating cubes looks so real, at the same time they could disappear at any moment. Despite this, an ethereal visual language has been adopted to serve an antidotal function - an attempt to offer viewers a gateway to meditative contemplation.
