Born in Jiangxi, China, Yang Yanyuan lives in Shanghai and goes by Xian Tounv or Lao Si. She graduated from Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. Her academic background in painitng gives her an edge in color sensitivity and enables her to construct a uniqle beauty with photography. Yang Yanyuan's childhood memories in the countryside gradually leave trace in her art practice, which are mainly still life without specific themes nor extra processing. The simple and candid visual invites the audience to look into daily objects with a naive eye.
