In Ladin, “Dassu” means: alone. In the series Das.su, Gustav Willeit gives his visual image interpretation to loneliness. The viewer feels lighter an suspended in a timelessness and neutral world. This place doesn’t belong to anyone. The daily life is forgotten and left with just endless tranquility. Crows, a man, trees stand still in this place. We as spectators may ask ourselves: “Do they belong to each other or is it just a coincidence that they meet?”

ARTIST
Gustav Willeit was born in Brunico Italy, and grew up in Corvara in Alta Badia. Coming from the mountainous regions of northeast Italy, Gustav Willet has always been fascinated by vertiginous landscapes. While taking alpine panoramas, he nonetheless felt the urge to explore other locations in search of unusual scenes. The power of his photos is expressed through their seemingly inaccessible vantage points, the intensity of contrasts and chromatic nuances. From 2000 to 2004, he studied at the prestigious photography school F+F for Art and Design in Zurich. Gustav launched his photographer career as a freelancer in 2006. He has since participated in many solo and collective exhibitions in Europe.
