Dried persimmons, salted pickles, and sharp-angled pomegranates with slightly reddish, these traditional Chinese snacks are the most commonplace objects in our daily life, surging up a mysterious and strong way of existence which fascinated Shuoying. She begins to do different experiments with colors and lights. The objects are continuously being modeling and combined. Squeezed pickles are being inverted, the expired bananas that had a wrinkled coat after drying, and the clear surface of the seaweed were all under the carve of the light, which formed a symbol of organs in a completely neutral position. In the series work of “Objects”, viewers can imagine and consider different aspects of these common objects through distinctive perspectives from desire, women’s relative self-consciousness, or just still life photography.

ARTIST
Shuoying Zhou currently lives in Shanghai. Under the influence of Chinese traditional aesthetics, her works have obvious directivity and intuitively visual exposure with oriental aesthetics atmosphere. At present, she focuses on her conceptual art creation, using photography as her main medium to analyze the existence of “gender”. In 2012, her works were selected for the “Three Shadows Photography Awards”, and in the same year she participated “TSPA Three Shadows Photography Awards 2012”. Winning the “Solicitation Notice of VISION's New Talents Photography Awards” in 2014, she also attended “VISION Photofairs Shanghai” in the same year.
